PDA-Punch Data Collection Module

PDA-Punch is a data collection and labor management module that operates on Palm OS-compatible PDAs. PDA-Punch allows supervisors or foremen to capture simple in and out punches, complex transfer punches, and pay records for non-worked hours such as days of vacation or personal leave. In addition, all transactions that PDA-Punch can capture may be applied either to individuals or groups of employees. PDA-Punch is easy to use and can go anywhere work needs to be done, making it the ideal data collection solution for employees on the move.

Standard PDA-Punch Features
Punches can be entered for individual employees as well as groups of employees. For example, a foreman can enter a single in-for-day punch and apply the punch to all employees in his or her work crew. If an employee arrives to work late, a separate in-for-day punch can be entered for that individual. All punch types available in the UNITIME Automated Timekeeping System are also available in PDA-Punch.

Transfer punches can be entered for individual employees as well as groups of employees. PDA-Punch can accommodate a wide variety of transfer punches including job transfers, organizational transfers (e.g., department or location transfers), job costing transfers, concurrent job transfers, and piece rate transfers.

Pay records can be entered for individual employees as well as groups of employees. For example, a foreman can enter a record for an eight-hour day of vacation and apply the record to all employees in his or her work crew. If an employee plans on taking an extra day off, a separate pay record can be entered for that individual.

The date and time can be manually set for all punches and pay records entered through PDA-Punch. For example, a foreman can wait until the end of the day to enter his or her employees’ in-for-day and out-for-day punches. Similarly, a foreman can enter vacation or sick leave records in advance or after the fact.

PDA-Punch users can view the clock file stored in memory at any point before the file is uploaded to the host computer and purged from memory. For example, a foreman can review the clock file to ensure that out-for-day punches were entered for all employees in his or her work crew.

To transfer punches and pay records from PDA-Punch to the UNITIME host computer, users simply HotSync their PDAs as normal. Punches and pay records can be stored in memory for as long as is necessary.
